2017 Volvo XC60 Review

New 2017 Volvo XC60 is an upgrade to the 2015 XC60, it is a major opportunity for Volvo to make a statement in the SUV market and regain its position among leading manufacturers. The Volvo XC60 is a medium sized SUV that is designed to be practical, sensible, spacious, and safe. The vehicle bears high design standards, with the company boasting of its safety features and its performance.

Volvo has managed to have amazing designs in the past, but the new 2017 Volvo XC60 is perhaps their most well balanced design as it involves improved styling techniques and Volvo’s conventional design. Its interior design depicts a smooth and premium design concept that is evident in most Volvo vehicles. The cabin is spacious, bright, and thoroughly modern. Its spacious interior provides extra comfort and can accommodate up to 5 adult passengers with ample leg and head room. To enhance the driver’s control and driver experience, a large TFT (Thin film transistor) screen with all virtual instruments is angled towards the driver on the upgraded dashboard. The upgraded dashboard is black in color with a minimalist design that blends well with the spruced up interior.

Some of the features of the new 2017 Volvo XC60 comprise of cruise control, satellite radio, power front seats, Bluetooth, Apple car play, USB connectivity, and a large sunroof. Special features consist of tunnel detecting headlamps, rain auto-sensing wipers and headlamp washers. It has a climate control that takes care of all climate functions. Its wood-crafted and leather wrapped steering wheel is both elegant and efficient. Custom features consist of rear-seat entertainment system, rear view camera, and an enhanced navigation system.

When it comes to the exterior, Volvo dropped its boxy trademark design with the 2017 Volvo XC60 spotting a stunning fascia that makes it appear striking and distinctive. It bears a more chisel shape with smooth angles and curves, together with an upswept beltline. A glossy grille is part of the revamped exterior. The grille is somewhat lower and crisper. Volvo went ahead and designed the vehicle with a very spacious storage compartment that adds to its practicality. An iron mark badge traditional with Volvo is maintained it this new design. Despite the vehicle being tall, it still appears elegant. In terms of detailing and proportions, the Volvo XC60 is well balanced. The vehicle received additional doses of sportiness than its predecessors.

Under the hood of the 2017 Volvo XC60 will be a 2400cc 3-cylinder petrol engine with an estimated horsepower of 180 with an 81mm bore and 93.15 mm stroke. It has a 6-speed automatic gearbox with a matched torque of 440nm. With a fuel capacity of 70L, the vehicle is listed under the environmental classification (Euro 5). New Volvo XC60 offers an all wheel drive. Its new engine and upgraded transmission combinations promise to deliver a better performance and fuel efficiency. However, the vehicle failed to detect pedestrians during testing. One will need to pay an additional $3000 for the installation of a suitable pedestrian detecting system.

New 2017 Volvo XC60 is set to be available globally by the end of 2016 with the base model going for about $36,000, while the high-class range priced at around $45,000. The price is reasonable considering all the amazing features plus its stunning fascia.
