2017 Kia Sportage Exterior and Interior

The exterior design of 2017 Kia Sportage is stronger compared to other crossovers in the market, as far as build quality is concerned. Specifically, its windows are now chrome framed which increases its structural integrity and the headlights clusters show LED running lights along with the indicators and tail lights. The front and back aluminum body protection is likewise evident and the tiger nose grille is still there although placed lower particularly on the front. The headlights have a sleek swept back style and are interconnected around back showing a more dynamic design. A dual exhaust is now present with chrome oval tips as is a roof-mounted spoiler. Adding a touch of class is a glossy back roof on top.

2017 Kia Sportage possesses all the essential features a crossover can possibly demand. Bluetooth connectivity is available for audio system that can be controlled by steering buttons. Seats are comfortable allowing only folding and reclining adjustments, and not multi directional as found in other cars. An advanced glass partition window is also added to separate the front back seats from the front rows, a sort of a privacy measure for some interested clients. A keyless entry and ignition is also included with this model and the TFT display found in previous models is upgraded to a modern touch screen LCD to have navigation and entertainment at one place.

2017 Kia Sportage Engine

The new generation 2017 Kia Sportage SUV will offer two new engine options – diesel engines and petrol engines using direct injection. Specifically, there is the 131 hp 1.7 liter CRDi diesel engine, then the 132 bhp (98 KW) 1.2 liter T-GDI and the 204 hp 1.6 liter GDi petrol engine. The 245 bhp (182 KW) 2.0 liter T-GDI is also offered and the 245 hp 2.0 liter GDI engine which will be combined with double clutch seven-speed automatic transmission. The usual six-speed manual gearbox still remains an offer.

Kia Sportage prioritizes fuel economy over performance as much as possible but its turbocharging system for its CRDi turbo diesel engines allow for both power and economy. The same is true with its gas engines which utilizes Kia’s GDi (Gasoline Direct Injection) technology for improved fuel efficiency without sacrificing power. Even its seven-speed double clutch transmission favors fuel efficiency over performance.

The 2017 Kia Sportage will have three variants namely, LX, EX, and SX. It has basically similar proportions as the existing model but the highly-mounted headlights and tiger nose grille are more prominent. The Kia KX3 concept is still evident on the front look of the vehicle. This has remained unchanged save for the light clusters with minimally changed dimensions. As for its interior, the changes in design are minimal, emphasizing more on comfort. But it’s the mechanical elements which will mark the 2017 Sportage as specially distinct and separate from the other Sportage models. The 2017 model is equipped with new downsized turbo engine, electronic driver aids, and dual-clutch transmission.
