2017 Chrysler Town and Country will mark the end of the fifth generation and the transition to a new era. Current generation started back in 2008, and it lasted almost a decade. The prototype of the redesigned Chrysler minivan was spotted on the streets, but it was hard to notice anything since it was heavily covered in camouflage. Its headlights and taillights will be reshaped, front grill will be redesigned, and Chrysler will offer few more color options, and accents which will modernize the look of the next-gen T&C.

The most interesting news about this model is referred to its plug-in hybrid, which is planned for 2017 model year, according to several sources. Changes will, most likely include the platform change, since the trend of light-weighted architectures is overcoming the entire industry. Although 2017 Chrysler Town and Country will keep its sliding doors, their appearance will not suffer for its functionality.

It is still early to precise anything, but looks like the interior will be inspired by some of Dodge’s crossovers. The steering wheel and instrument cluster, which are now digital are taken from the Dodge models.

When it comes to performance of the 2017 Chrysler Town and Country, there is no much reliable info, due to the fact that it is too early to speculate. Transmission will be ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic, while the engine is expected to be chosen from Pentastar V6 line-up.

Current base engine – 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque and fuel economy ratings of 17 mpg city/25 mpg hwy, could easily remain the standard option. Beside hybrid variant, Chrysler may decide to offer diesel power unit too, in order to deliver the best fuel economy possible.

Honda Odyssey, Kia Sedona, Nissan Quest, and Toyota Sienna are the closest rivals of the 2017 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. Even though this vehicle category is not crowded as categories of popular SUVs, it doesn’t stop their producers to deliver luxurious features, which are combined with functional design of the minivans.

The release date is expected sometime during the 2016 year, during which is also expected its on-sale date. The pricing info is not available, but considering the price tags of its competitors, and current price of the T&C minivan, we believe it will start around $30,000.
