2016 Subaru Tribeca Redesign

The 2016 Subaru Tribeca is expected to be a total redesign of the current model, making it more in line with its competitors such as the Ford Explorer and the Chevrolet Traverse. It also marks an attempt to address the concerns that have made the Tribeca such a low selling model compared to the Outbacks and the Legacies. Since 2005 only 75,000 Subaru Tribecas have been sold, compared to over a million for the Legacy/Outbacks. This will be first major overhaul of this ageing model that has been around for 9 years and has been seen by many as long overdue.

The major changes will be in the design, which is inspired by the Subaru Viziv 2 Concept and the Subaru Crossover 7 Concept. The changes will include major improvements in the cabin to increase the comfort and space available in the passenger compartment. The vehicle will also feature three rows of seats comparable to similar vehicles in its class such as the Ford Explorer and have a seating capacity of 7, making it an ideal family SUV. Improvements include making the vehicle much shorter, narrower and taller than the current Tribeca. It will also have improvements in standard equipment and come with a lot more accessories and optional personalization features.

2016 Subaru Tribeca engine upgrades

There are also significant changes that have been made in the 2016 Subaru Tribeca engine which will feature a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine with its variable all-wheel drive system. The idea is to also improve the fuel economy and efficiency of the Tribeca which has been one of the reasons given for the slow sales in the US. The current 3.6 liter V6 engine is inefficient and has a poor EPA rating. The Tribeca is thus expected to be more competitive compared to the rest of the SUVs currently in the market where it has lagged behind due to its perceived environmentally insensitive engine efficiency and rating.

The engine will not only be much more fuel efficient but also have a lot more kick, giving the vehicle an acceleration of 0 to 80 miles in 15 seconds and putting it at par with the best cars in the US market.
