2016 Lincoln MKX will make big debut next year and mark the beginning of the new generation. Lincoln already presented Concept crossover, which showed us what to expect from the latest, 2016 MKX. Earlier on, Ford presented its plan to make a major sales boost of Lincoln’s models. The plan is to triple the sales up to 300,000 units per year, by 2020. In order to complete this goal it Ford will add two models to Lincoln’s model line-up, and, additionally, the replacement for the MKS. The realization of the mentioned plan will cost the Ford Company around $2.5 billion.

The design of the 2016 Lincoln MKX will be mostly taken from the concept, but Lincoln officials will definitely changes some things in order to make wow effect once again, after 2016 MKX reveal. Design tweaks that will be carried over from the concept will, most likely, include split grill, hood finishing lines as well as side body lines. Although the overall appearance of the 2016 Lincoln MKX will not be futuristic and specific as we might expected it, this premium crossover will stand out from the rest of the crowd, which was the primary goal of its designers. Exterior features will include wheel range from 18- to 21-inches, floating roof, LED lights and few more.

Interior will be made out of high-quality materials, and filled with latest features. However the design of the 2016 MKX’s cabin is not known yet. High-luxury equipment and upholstery will make its passengers feel pleasant and comfortable, while offering entertainment at the same time. There is a big possibility that Lincoln will offer only one trim level, which could be additionally enhanced with few package options. Great news is that 2016 version could be available as a Black Label edition.

Under the hood of stylish 2016 Lincoln MKX will be placed the same engine as for the previous model. Base 3.7-liter V6 engine will continue to deliver 305 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. Although this engine offers great performances of the model, the fuel economy it delivers is not so great, in fact it returns 20 mpg (which is around average).

Lincoln may offer another, optional engine, possibly a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 or some of turbocharged four-cylinder engines, in order to provide more economical options for its budget-oriented customers. Front- and all-wheel drive will be offered, while transmission choices are still unknown.

BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5 are closest European competitors, while its US alternatives could be Cadillac SRX and Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, seems like previous versions of the MKX lost the battles with European premium producers, but this model year will bring some differences in that area.

2016 Lincoln MKX price and release

Compared to its predecessor, 2016 Lincoln MKX will feature price increase, and its starting price is expected to be around $41,000. The release is expected sometime during the next year, probably on summer.
