2016 Lexus RX will present the fourth generation of the popular luxury SUV. Although currently placed into mid-size category this great SUV could make some major changes with the new generation, which may influence that. Lexus’s officials already said that they are listening the market’s demand, and that they are heavily discussing the feedback. From what we heard the biggest issue is lack of third row seats. Lexus Division chief Jeff Bracken addressed this problem and said: “Third-row seating is the No. 1 issue we hear from dealers. We feel like we’re missing a 35,000-units-a-year opportunity. We’re working hard to rectify that.”

Already long period of time has passed, since RX’s third generation started back in 2008, but the popularity of the model is still on a high level. 2016 Lexus RX changes will continue to use the same platform, which currently underpins the Toyota Highlander. However Japanese car producer plans to expand the aluminum usage in order to reduce the weight of the vehicle that will further enhance both fuel economy and performance of the vehicle. Although this might seem little to you, since we already had a chance to see some parts of the RX made of aluminum, extensive usage is yet to come.

2016 model year will bring hood, tailgate and closures made of aluminum. But the biggest news, by far, is the possibility for optional third row seating, which would be a great move since the demand for this type of crossovers is in constant growth for years now. New 2016 Lexus RX will be built in plant in Cambridge, Ontario, which is also its current housing. Variants of the model will also be the same, so we can expect both RX 350 and RX 450h to be available.
