The 2016 Ford Flex is a very highly anticipated vehicle in the SUV market. This new model is said to be an upgrade of the current one, as it offers a couple of changes in its design while maintaining some of its trademark features. It will be available in three trims- the SE, SEL and Limited.

This 2016 Ford Flex model is said to have a very spacious cabin thanks to the car’s box-like shape as it has three rows and can accommodate 7 passengers. The upholstery is going to be unchanged for the lower trims but the Limited trim is rumored to have upgraded to leather upholstery and is also going to have wooden accents on the dashboard. A couple of high tech features have been added to this new model, including a 4.2 inch LED screen on the control panel, a Sony radio with 12 speakers and optional installation of two LCD screens on the rear passenger seats. The safety features offered for the standard trim include six airbags, a stability and traction control system and anti-lock brakes. A rear view camera and parking sensors are offered with the SEL trim and the Limited trim offers cruise control, a forward collision alert system and blind spot monitors. The exterior of the new 2016 Ford Flex is said to retain the trademark box shape but with more refined lines and smooth angles due to the redesigned grille and the more angular tailgate and headlights. There will also be new indicator lights at the front and rear end, and this model is rumored to lose the contrasting colors on the tailgate. Moreover, there will be optional automatic xenon headlights, LED rear lights and fog lights.

Ford aims to give this model a more powerful look and the car will be slightly heavier than its predecessor. Buyers are going to have two engine options to choose from. The first option will be a 3.5l V6 engine that produces 287 horsepower and 254lb-ft of torque. It will offer a fuel economy of 18mpg in the city and 25mpg on the highway. The second option is a 3.5l Ecoboost twin-turbo that produces 365 horsepower and 350lb-ft of torque, with a fuel economy of 16mpg in the city and 23mpg on the highway. Both engines will be paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. There are rumors of a hybrid engine option, but they are yet to be confirmed.

The 2016 Ford Flex is set to be released in the first quarter of 2016, with the SE trim going for $29,000, the SEL for $38,000 and the Limited for $45,000.
