With last model year full redesign, 2016 Ford Edge will be carried over, with small possibility for any change, but rather small upgrades and updates. American car producer made a huge improvement for this popular SUV, making it one of the best in its class. Originally presented in 2006, Edge suffered only one facelift for 2012 model year and generation switch for 2015. This time, 2016 model year bring small equipment shuffling, without any significant changes to its, still new, Edge.

With last year dimensions enlargement, 2016 Ford Edge offers 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats up, and 73.4 cubic feet with second row folded down. Edge shares its platform with Fusion, and with extensive usage of high-strength steel it delivers more stiffness and rigidity. Beside its building materials, Edge offer better performances, and isolation. Bold exterior remains unchanged for 2016 model year. Aerodynamics of the SUV is improved with last year changes, and Edge has no need to change any of its looks.

2016 Ford Edge carries over its trims, and come available in SE, SEL, Sport and Titanium trim levels. Depending on choice of a trim, Edge’s upholstery will be made out of cloth of leather. Its features are numerous, both inside and out. Some of the most interesting ones include rearview camera, Active Park Assist, front 180-degree camera, heatable steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, adaptive steering, SYNC with MyFordTouch system and much more.

2016 model year additions will include some of the upper trim packages available for lower trims and possibly few exterior color choices, but not more than that.

Under the hood of the 2016 Ford Edge will not be any changes at all. Turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 245 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque continues to be the base power source.

Optional engine continues to be a 3.5-liter V6 with an output of 285 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. However, 2016 Edge Sport offers yet another engine, a 2.7-liter V6 with 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque, which is available for this trim only.

All engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters mounted on steering-wheel. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available as optional for all trims.

The closest rivals of the new Ford Edge continue to be Chevrolet Equinox, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The release of the model is expected early on 2016, or, at best, late on next,2015 year, while the sales date should follow it shortly. Pricing will stay in same range as its predecessor’s, which means it will be sold in range from $29,000 up to $41,000.
