2016 Audi Q7

2016 Audi Q7 brings a lot of news, not only related to the particular model, but also news related to future SUVs made by famous German auto producer. First in change line-up is new platform. New Q7 will be built on the MLB Evo architecture which is the first time VW Group vehicle uses SUV version of the platform. Reduced weight of 2016 Audi Q7 is logical sequence of events. Some things will, however be carried over, mainly features and assets that proved to be success when it comes to market demand and overall sales.

Change of platform and transition to light-weighed structure, resulted in 700 pounds weight loss, at least. This number is pretty great, and will open the door for other improvements that will follow. 2016 Audi Q7 redesign will mark the beginning of the second generation of the popular SUV, while original plan indicated that the model will be presented a year earlier, for 2015 model year, since almost all Q7’s rivals already presented their redesigned models.

The position of the Q7 will be slightly changed, since Audi plans to launch two new SUVs, at least. One of two all-new models is the Q6, while the second one is Q8. As noticeable from its names, the Q6 will be smaller than the 2016 Audi Q7, and “poorer” which will allow Q7’s designer to go overboard with luxury touches, as soon as Q6 comes out. Q8 will, logically, be larger, but not much is known about the upcoming SUV, since it is still early to discuss the idea.

As far as detail and features, according to some sources, we can expect luxurious and modern technologies, both inside and out of the 2016 Audi Q7. Known exterior features will include LED headlights (taken from the A8 flagship) as well as Audi’s recognizable single-frame grill. Inside we can expect high-level luxury features, including materials, surfaces, features and technologies.

2016 Audi Q7 engine expectations

2016 Audi Q7 rides on a longer wheelbase, while the engine lineup is not reveled yet. Based on rumors that seems to be repeating, we cane expect 3.0- and 4.0-liter TFSI units and a 3.0-liter TDI. Whether this engines will make the cut, is left to see, but we will inform you about specs of the mentioned engines.

Depending on market, Audi will change its engine range, but only one thing is sure, and that is the usage of both diesel and petrol units, which will be available for all markets, but with different displacements and boosts.

In case you wondered, looks like Audi has decided to enrich this 2016 Audi Q7‘s portfolio, with addition of sportier variant – named S7. The sportier variant will be able to deliver up to 400 horsepower and even 600 lb-ft of torque.

E-tron plug-in hybrid is yet another variant added to small family of Q7s. The combined power outlet of the hybrid will be around 369 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.

Reduced weight will affect the fuel consumption of the vehicle, which will be enhanced, but there are still no reliable ratings that could be shown.

As imaginable, Audi’s closest rivals who compete throughout the whole range of cars, BMW and Porsche are direct rivals for 2016 Q7 too. Specific models that are in the same category and that parry the popular Q7 are BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne and Acura MDX, as slightly more economical version of the great Q7.

Debut if the 2016 Audi Q7 is scheduled for 2015 Detroit Auto Show, in January. Pricing specs are not revealed, but new Q7 is expected to start just under $50,000.
